The Impact of Acne

The landmark Skin Matters 2008 Survey of 2,732 participants—including teens with acne, parents of teens, adults with acne, and dermatologists—reveals Americans’ attitudes and feelings surrounding acne:

  • The majority of parents of teens with acne, adults with acne, and dermatologists believe acne is a health care issue, rather than a beauty issue.1

  • At least 50% of both teens and adults with more severe acne say that it negatively impacts their mood.1

  • 64% of teens with acne feel self-conscious.1

  • 90% of dermatologists agree that people with acne are treated differently in society than those without acne.1
